Zurab Noghaideli To Organize Briefing Concerning Staff Reshuffle

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, will organize a briefing concerning the staff reshuffle at 17:00 on Thursday

The Administration of Prime Minister of Georgia refrained from making additional comments about whether the aforementioned briefing was connected to a new staff reshuffle or not. But it must be noted that Dimitri Kitoshvili, Parliamentary Secretary of the President of Georgia, admitted on a special briefing organized on Wednesday that Prime Minister is obliged to present renewed staff of the government for approval to the Parliament of Georgia corresponding to Article 81 of the Constitution of Georgia, as the one third of the government of Georgia has been revised.

Lado Chipashvili, Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs of Georgia, left his post in consequence of staff reshuffle. Lado Chipashvili will be appointed as the Ambassador of Georgia to Czech Republic. Kakha Sikharulidze, former Ambassador of Georgia to Czech Republic will return to Georgia and will occupy an important post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Davit Tkeshelashvili, acting Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, will become the Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs.

Peacekeepers Deny Violation Of Mandate

Tbilisi. August 29 (Prime-News) – Sergey Chaban, Commander of the Russian Peacekeepers dislocated in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, denies the fact about the violation of the mandate by the Russian peacekeepers.

The Georgian law enforcement bodies detained a column of trucks being in possession of CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces. About 15 servicemen were traveling in the above-mentioned trucks. One of the trucks collided with a passenger mini bus. Several passengers of the mini bus received slight injuries.

The Georgian side has evaluated the aforementioned fact as a violation of mandate.

Sergey Chaban declared in an interview with the Russian news agencies that eight servicemen traveling in GAZ-66 detained by the Georgian police were released on Tuesday.

Chaban also added that the peacekeepers acted within the framework of their mandate.

Georgia To Join NATO Air Situation Data Exchange System

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of defense of Georgia that at the moment Georgia is in the final stage of joining the ASDE after which the special systems and equipment will be installed and prepared for testing. Georgia will join the ASDE through the Republic of Turkey. The Memorandum of Understanding between NATO, Georgia and Republic of Turkey regarding ASDE joining is drafted and the final review process of MOU is ongoing.

The NATO requirements for a bi-directional exchange of a RAP (Recognized Air Picture) between NATO nations and partner nations resulted in the development of the Air Situation Data Exchange (ASDE) system. This system manages the controlled exchange of air picture data by filtering the NATO picture in such manner that it is releasable to partner nations.

Gela Bezhuashvili To Pay Working Visit To USA And Europe

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – Gela Bezhuashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, will pay a working visit to the United States of America and Europe.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia that Gela Bezhuashvili would visit Slovenia from August 31 to September 01, which will assume EU’s rotating six-month presidency in January 2008. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia will depart for Brussels on September 03, where he will participate in an international conference “Joint Efforts – Enhancement of European Neighboring Policy”.

On September 6-7 he will be visiting Berlin and then Washington on September 8-11. Series of trips next month will be concluded by the visit to Lithuania on September 13-14.

Gela Bezhuashvili will participate in the work of the UNESCO 34th general conference held in Paris on October 19.

Kurta And Avnevi Public Schools Incorporated Into UNESCO Network Of Associated Schools

Tbilisi. August 27 (Prime-News) – As a result of the work carried out by the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO (President of the Commission – Minister of Foreign Affairs Gela Bezhuashvili), public schools of Kurta and Avnevi were incorporated into the UNESCO network of associated schools.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia that Despite the fact that over 500 schools all over the world are on a waiting list for the UNESCO associated school status, the issue of schools located in the conflict zone, due to its great importance, was considered ahead of schedule and decided positively by UNESCO.

The public schools of Kurta and Avnevi, which include both Georgian and Ossetian children, will be afforded an opportunity to establish close contacts with schools of the same status, take an active part in various international events, implement a great number of projects with the support of UNESCO and cooperate with the important international organization such as UNESCO. Minister Of Internal Affairs Of Georgia To Depart For Baku

Tbilisi. August 27 (Prime-News) – Vano Merabishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, will pay a working visit to Baku, where he will participate in the meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Interior Ministers.

Azeri News Agencies inform about that on Monday.

According to their information, within the framework of the two-day visit Merabishvili will hold meetings with his counterparts from CIS, including Ramil Usibov, the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan. The ministers of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan will discuss the prospects of future cooperation.

A meeting for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Interior Ministers will be held in Baku on September 05-06. The issue on unification forces in order to defeat terrorism, organized and transnational crime will be discussed at the meeting. Official Tbilisi Calls On Russia To Cease Its Support Of Separatists

Office Of “Kokoity Fandarast” Opened In Telavi

Activists of the movement and Ossetians residing in the region gathered at the monument of Erekle II in Telavi.

The aim of the aforementioned action is to release South Ossetia from separatist regime of Kokoity with help of peaceful means.

The movement unites activists from the whole territory of Georgia.

The offices of “Kokoity Fandarast” have been already opened in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Tamarasheni.

GEL 210 000 Allocated From Government’s Reserve Fund To South Ossetian Provisional Administration

Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, signed the corresponding decree on August 22.

Russian Ambassador To UN Accuses Georgia Of Political Provocation

Tbilisi. August 22 (Prime-News) – Vitaly Churkin, Russian Ambassador to the UN, accuses the Georgian side of fabricating evidences of the August 06 missile incident and deliberately causing “political tsunami”.

Vitaly Churkin stated at the press conference held at the UN that so-called missile incident was a mere provocation, intending to escalate tension between the two countries.

Tbilisi. August 21 (Prime-News) – Eduard Kokoity, de facto President of South Ossetia, visits Self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia.

Eduard Kokoity arrived in Sokhumi on Tuesday. Sergey Bagapsh, de facto President of Abkhazia, met Eduard Kokoity.

Russia Began Long-Distance Patrol Flights Of Strategic Bombers

Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation stated about that speaking on the final day of large-scale military exercises “Peace Mission 2007” involving Russia, China, and four Central Asian countries in the south Urals.

“I made a decision to restore flights of Russian strategic bombers on a permanent basis, and at 00:00 a.m. on August 17, 14 strategic bombers, support aircraft and aerial tankers were deployed. Combat duty has begun, involving 20 aircraft,” Putin stated.

According to him, on the first day of patrol flights, bomber planes would spend about 20 hours in the air, with midair refueling, and would interact with naval forces.

Putin Expressed hope that Russia’s partners would treat with understanding the resumption of strategic air flights. Russian pilots have been grounded for too long. Batu Kutelia: Possibility Of Consultations With Russia Exhausted

Tbilisi. August 17 (Prime-News) – Batu Kutelia, deputy Defense Minister of Georgia, states that the possibility of consultations with Russia regarding investigation of the August 06 incident is exhausted.

Kutelia stated at the briefing on Friday that unfortunately the Russian side is not constructive and refrains from cooperation with investigation.

“Information provided by Russian experts was extremely fragmentary and it only warrants criticism. After studying the evidence provided by them, we have an impression that they try to even portray that as if an aircraft does not at all flew over the concerned area. So we can conclude that we are witnessing an obvious attempt to fabricate evidence.” Kutelia stated.

Dimitri Mandjavidze Appointed Co-chairman Of JCC From Georgian Side

Tbilisi. August 07 (Prime-News) – Dimitri Mandjavidze, Deputy State Minister of Georgia on conflict resolution, was appointed the co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict from Georgian side.

According to information of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia on conflict resolution David Bakradze informed all co-chairman of the JCC about the corresponding decision.

Session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict is held since 1990. Russian Experts Examined Fragments Of Dropped Rocket

Tbilisi. August 17 (Prime-News) – Group of Russian military experts, which is involved in investigation of the violation of Georgian airspace and bombing territory of the village Tsitelubani on August 06, examined fragment of the dropped rocket in the village Tsitelubani on Friday.

Experts have left the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia without comment and will announce their conclusion of the incident at the Embassy of the Russian federation in Georgia on friday evening.

Russian military experts, visited spot of the incident and got familiar information about flight of the jet that has violated Georgian airspace and detailed information and evidences of the incident.

Russian experts state that evidences of the Georgian side are not enough.

Group of Russian experts arrived on a special flight in Tbilisi on Thursday to investigate the August 06 incident. The Russian delegation comprised of 25 people includes Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov, Head of the Staff of Air Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Kenyaikin, Ambassador at large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and specialists of Russian MIA and Foreign Ministry, will participate in investigation of the incident.

The report of the International Group of Experts (IGE) investigating the incident of August 6, confirms that the Georgian airspace was violated by the aircraft that entered from the territory of the Russian Federation. British And Estonian Military Experts To Arrive In Tbilisi

According to Foreign Ministry of Georgia, the experts will get familiar with the report of the International Group of Experts (IGE), which investigated the abovementioned incident. The IGE consisted of experts from Sweden, The USA, Lithuania and Latvia.

The Georgian side is ready to present any necessary document on the fact.

Session Of State Commission On Determination Of Status Of South Ossetia To Be Held In Two Weeks
