Tbilisi. October 26 (Prime-News) – Dimitri Manjavidze, Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Conflicts Resolution, accused Yuri Popov, Russian Special Envoy of misinformation.

At the press conference today, Manjavidze responded to the claims by Yuri Popov, saying that the session of the Joint Control Commission for Georgian-South Ossetian Conflict Resolution (JCC) had failed owing to the Georgian party.

JCC Session To Be Held In Tbilisi On October 23-24

Tbilisi. October 19 (Prime-News) – Session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) on resolution of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict will be held at the Office of the OSCE mission to Georgia in Tbilisi on October 23-24.

Russian mass media informs about that referring to Yuri Popov, Envoy at large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, co-chairman of the JCC from the Russian side.

According to him, the sides will discuss issues on resolution of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict.

Four Members Of Parliament Fined

Tbilisi. October 18 (Prime-News) – The four members of the Parliament of Georgia have been fined for manipulation with control panels.

Nino Burjanadze, Chairwoman of the Parliament of Georgia, announced the names of the fined MPs at the special plenary session held on Thursday.

MPs Kakha Getsadze, Kakha Rusia, Tsezar Chocheli and Rezo Sarjveladze will have to pay fine.

Irakli Okruashvili Quits Politics

Tbilisi. October 11 (Prime-News) – Irakli Okruashvili, former Minister of Defense of Georgia and leader of “Movement for Unified Georgia”, has taken decision to quit politics.

Koka Guntsadze, the member of the “Movement for Unified Georgia” stated at the briefing held on Thursday that the decision taken by Irakli Okruashvili was preconditioned by his difficult moral and physical condition. Guntsadze added that Irakli Okruashvili’s allies lay no claims to him.

ccording to the statement of Koka Guntsadze, they met with Irakli Okruashvili on Wednesday.

“After two-hour long meeting with Okruashvili, it became clear that it is extremely difficult for him to talk about the details,” Guntsadze said. “Irakli Okruashvili has done his job. He managed to unite the opposition and spoke truth and broke the fear. Under the current condition, at this stage, Irakli Okruashvili is quitting the politics.”

Gela Bezhuashvili Met With Robert Gates

Tbilisi. September 12 (Prime-News) – Gela Bezhuashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, who is currently visiting the US, met with Robert Gates, the US Secretary of Defense, at the Pentagon.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia that the sides focused on the process of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.

Representatives Of CoE’s Monitoring Committee To Arrive In Georgia

Tbilisi. September 10 (Prime-News) – Representatives of the CoE’s monitoring committee will arrive in Georgia on September 10-16.

Headquarters Of Joint Peacekeeping Forces Object To Detention Of Peacekeepers

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – The Headquarters of Joint Peacekeeping Forces objects to the detention of the Ossetian peacekeepers in the conflict zone and demands their immediate release.

“The detention of the three peacekeepers of the North Ossetian Peacekeeping Battalion is a rough violation of trilateral agreement,” reads an official statement disseminated by the headquarters.

The Headquarters of Joint Peacekeeping Forces call on the OSCE mission and demand the conduction of trilateral monitoring.

The Georgian law enforcement bodies detained Valiev and Khachirov on Wednesday. They kidnapped the journalists of the broadcasting company the “Rustavi 2” – Levan Jorbenadze, Archil Nikoleishvili and Davit Gvenetadze – and the “Mze” TV – Maka Gigauri, Zaza Kapanadze and Gela Alazashvili, while they were gathering data on detention of Davit Galegashvili, Kakha Brolidze and Dato Kvaratskhelia. Mikheil Saakashvili: Nothing Unusual In Staff Reshuffle

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, sees nothing unusual in staff reshuffle.

Mikheil Saakashvili told journalists that the government of Georgia is a united, strategic team that implements agreed, stable policy.

“The major difference between our cabinet and the governments of some other countries is that our cabinet is a united team. The government of Georgia is orientated on result,” stated the President of Georgia.

Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, named new composition of the cabinet of ministers on Thursday.

Zurab Noghaideli declared at a special breifing on Thursday that on the basis of the decision taken by the President of Georgia Lekso Aleksishvili, acting Minister of Finance of Georgia, will be presented on the post of the President of Georgian National Bank. The candidature of Lekso Aleksishvili will be approved in September, after acting President Roman Gotsiridze quits the post.

The candidature of Nika Gialuri, acting Minister of Energy, is presented on the post of the Mnister of Finance. Aleksandre Khetaguri, President of Georgian Oil and Gas Cooperation, will replace Nika Gilauri on the post of the Mnister of energy of Georgia.

Zurab Noghaideli admitted that Aleksandre Khetaguri occupied the post of Deputy Minister of Energy in previous years and is acquainted with energy system.

Gia Kavtaradze, acting Minister of Justice, failed to retain his post. According to Zurab Noghaideli, Gia Kavtaradze has taken decision to return back to business. The candidature of Eka Tkeshelashvili is presented on the post of the Minster of Justice of Georgia.

Zurab Noghaideli noted that further staff reshuffle was not expected. He will present revised cabinet of ministers and a new program to the parliament of Georgia for approval in two days.

Lado Chipashvili will be appointed as the Ambassador of Georgia to Czech Republic. Davit Tkeshelashvili, acting Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, will become the Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs.

President Opened Amusement Park In Village Tamarasheni

Acting Chairman Of OSCE And Lavrov Discussed August 06 Missile Incident

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, OSCE Chairman-in-Office held meeting with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and discussed the August 06 missile incident.

Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos had briefed Sergey Lavrov about the results of fact-finding visits by his special envoy for this issue, Miomir Zuzul, in Moscow and Tbilisi.

Moratinos admitted that he plans to visit Georgia in the next week.

A range of OSCE-related topics, including the so-called protracted conflicts and the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty, were also discussed during the talks.

Miomir Zuzul, the special representative of the OSCE, visited Tbilisi and Moscow in order to investigate the incident connected to the violation of Georgia state border, incursion into airspace and bombing of the territory of Georgia on August 06.

Minister Of Education and Science Denies Information On Closing Azeri Schools

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – The government of Georgia does not intend to close schools of national minorities, including Azerbaijani ones, in the country.

Azeri News Agency informs about that referring to Aleksandre Lomaia, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.

“We did not make any decision regarding shutting down national schools and I am surprised to observe Azerbaijanis’ indignation caused by these gossips,” admitted Aleksandre Lomaia.

Reports on the possible closure of schools, where education is conducted on the Azerbaijani language have recently been spread in media. The reports caused anxiety amongst the population in the Kvemo Kartli region where up to 500,000 Azerbaijanis reside.

According to the Minister, Georgian Government observes and protects its Constitution and legislation and tries to help the citizens to receive education in their native language, and simultaneously to study the official language. The task of the Georgian Government is to enable national minorities, including Azerbaijanis, to study their official language,” he said. Peacekeepers Deny Violation Of Mandate

Tbilisi. August 29 (Prime-News) – Sergey Chaban, Commander of the Russian Peacekeepers dislocated in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, denies the fact about the violation of the mandate by the Russian peacekeepers.

The Georgian law enforcement bodies detained a column of trucks being in possession of CIS Collective Peacekeeping Forces. About 15 servicemen were traveling in the above-mentioned trucks. One of the trucks collided with a passenger mini bus. Several passengers of the mini bus received slight injuries.

The Georgian side has evaluated the aforementioned fact as a violation of mandate.

Sergey Chaban declared in an interview with the Russian news agencies that eight servicemen traveling in GAZ-66 detained by the Georgian police were released on Tuesday.

Chaban also added that the peacekeepers acted within the framework of their mandate.
