British And Estonian Military Experts To Arrive In Tbilisi

According to Foreign Ministry of Georgia, the experts will get familiar with the report of the International Group of Experts (IGE), which investigated the abovementioned incident. The IGE consisted of experts from Sweden, The USA, Lithuania and Latvia.

The Georgian side is ready to present any necessary document on the fact.

The report of the International Group of Experts (IGE) investigating the incident of August 06, 2007, confirms that the Georgian airspace was violated by the aircraft that entered from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Sanakoev Offers Rehabilitation Of Water Pipeline To De Facto Government Of Tskhinvali

Tbilisi. August 16 (Prime-News) – Dimitri Sanakoev, Head of the temporary administrative unit in South Ossetia, offers rehabilitation of water pipeline to the de facto government of Tskhinvali.

Sanakoev stated at the briefing on Thursday that Georgian side would fund rehabilitation works and Tskhinvali will be completely supplied with water in 45 days.

Dimitri Sanakoev evaluated the statement of Boris Chochiev as blackmail and said that it would be better to look for particular solution to the problem than to use ultimatum terms.

Boris Chochiev, de facto Special Tasks Minister of the unrecognized republic South Ossetia, accused the Georgian party of interrupting water supply to Tskhinvali and threaded with termination of operation of Tirifon-Saltvisi irrigation system by cut off of the source reservoir.

According to Sanakoev, monitoring group has already examined Edisi irrigation channel and excluded guilty of the Georgian side in the fact.

De facto government did not respond to the offer yet.

Noghaideli To Visit Guria Region

Tbilisi. August 17 (Prime-News) – Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, will visit Guria region on Friday.

Prime-News was told at the Office of Georgian Prime Minister, that Noghaideli would visit repaired schools in the villages Khevi Kvenobani and construction works of roads in Chokhatauri-Ozurgeti and Ozurgeti-Ureki.

In Ozurgeti Noghaideli will get familiar with works on the water pipeline, visit hazelnut-reprocessing plant, private children’s hospital and construction of sports gym for 500 people

Russia Blocked Discussion Of August 06 Incident In Georgia At UN Security Council

Tbilisi. August 17 (Prime-News) – Russia blocked discussion of the August 06 incident in Georgia at the UN Security Council.

Members of the UN Security council have discussed Georgia’s proposal to consider the August 06 violation of Georgian airspace at the emergency UN Security Council and concluded that they do not have precise and detailed information for making concrete steps.

Pascal Gaime, Deputy permanent representative of the republic of Congo to the UN, told journalists about that.

“It would be premature for the Council to take any kind of a stand on this matter,” Vitaly Churkin, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN stated.

Irakli Alasania, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations, during his meeting with Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General,stressed that the Georgian side requests to convene a special meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss this sequence of inter-connected attacks on the sovereign state and their effects, among others on the process of peaceful resolution of the conflicts on the Georgian soil.

Russian Experts Visit Tsitelubani

Tbilisi. August 17 (Prime-News) – Group of Russian military experts, which is involved in investigation of the violation of Georgian airspace and bombing territory of the village Tsitelubani on August 06, is visiting spot of the incident on Friday.

The experts demand from the Georgian side to present detailed information and evidences of the incident.

Mamuka Kurashvili, Commander of Georgian peacekeeping battalion deployed in the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict zone, represents Georgian side.

Neither side has made any comment yet. Vyacheslav Kovalenko, Russian Ambassador to Georgia, who is on the spot, asked to move out all journalists.

Russian experts state that evidences of the Georgian side are not enough. The experts will visit the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Friday in order to get familiar with more evidences of the incident. Russian experts intend to hold press conference on Friday evening to announce their conclusion of the incident.

Group of Russian experts arrived on a special flight in Tbilisi on at 17:30 on Thursday to investigate the August 06 incident. The Russian delegation comprised of 25 people includes Lieutenant General Igor Khvorov, Head of the Staff of Air Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Kenyaikin, Ambassador at large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and specialists of Russian MIA and Foreign Ministry, will participate in investigation of the incident.
