Tbilisi. October 12 (Prime-News) – Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC) will be elected at the Parliament of Georgia on Friday.
Levan Tarkhnishvili, the member of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Public Broadcasting, has been nominated on the post of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission. The most part of parliamentary ruling majority supports his candidature, however the opposition disapproves the candidature of Levan Tarkhnishvili on the post of Chairman of Central Election Commission. The opposition considers that Levan Tarkhnishvili is the cadre of the acting government of Georgia and he will not be able to be impartial and independent.
The post of the Chairman of CEC became vacant after Guram Chalagashvili was appointed as the Chairman of the Georgian National Energy Regulation Commission.
