Gela Bezhuashvili To Pay Working Visit To USA And Europe

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – Gela Bezhuashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, will pay a working visit to the United States of America and Europe.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia that Gela Bezhuashvili would visit Slovenia from August 31 to September 01, which will assume EU’s rotating six-month presidency in January 2008. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia will depart for Brussels on September 03, where he will participate in an international conference “Joint Efforts – Enhancement of European Neighboring Policy”.

On September 6-7 he will be visiting Berlin and then Washington on September 8-11. Series of trips next month will be concluded by the visit to Lithuania on September 13-14.

Gela Bezhuashvili will participate in the work of the UNESCO 34th general conference held in Paris on October 19.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia will visit the Netherlands on October 17-18. He will participate in the work of the Georgia-EU Co-operation Council on October 15-16 organized in Luxemburg.

Official Tbilisi Demands That Russian Side Withdraw Its Support Of Separatist Regimes

 

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – With respect to the recent development of events, in particular, large-scale military exercises in Abkhazia, Georgia, the Georgian side expressed concern and demands that the Russian side withdraw its support of the separatist regimes.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Georgia that Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Georgia Vyacheslav Kovalenko was summoned to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Merab Antadze regarding the aforementioned issue.

The Georgian side expressed concern over the continuous process of supplying the separatist regimes with arms and military equipment from the Russian territory, training and logistic support of the separatist regime’s military units by Russian officers.

The Georgian side demands that the Russian side abandon uncoordinated activity in the conflict zones and withdraw its support of the separatist regimes.

The Georgian side expressed its readiness for a bilateral dialogue at any level and the belief that joint efforts can lead to a substantial progress in the peaceful resolution of the conflicts, restoration of rights of the victims of ethnic cleansing and their safe and dignified return to their homes, as well as establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus.

Next Conscription Of Reservists To Start On August 29

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – The seventh flow of reservists will be trained in four military bases of Georgia from August 29 till September 15.

According to the information of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, with the seventh conscription, reservists will be distributed to Senaki, Mukhrovani, Kojori and Telavi reserve battalions.

Reservists from Samtredia and Tskhaltubo regions will depart for Senaki. Reservists from Gardabani, Marneuli and Bolnisi regions will be trained at Telavi reserve base. Students of Technical University of Georgia, Tbilisi Medical University, Ilia Chavchavadze Stated University, Institute of Asia and Africa and Tbilisi University of Economic Relations will be trained at Mukhrovani Reserve Base.

Reservists residing in Gldani-Nadzaladevi, Isani Samgori, Didube-Chugureti and Didgori districts will leave for Kodori.

Russian Peacekeepers Criticize De Facto Tskhinvali For Holding Back Information

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – The leadership of Joint Peacekeeping Forces dislocated in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone has expressed concern over the detention of the citizens of Georgia by the Ossetian militiamen.

Russian news agencies inform about that referring to the statement made Yuri Vereshak, Deputy Commander of Joint Peacekeeping Forces dislocated in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone.

According to the statement of Vereshak, the Ossetian side deliberately concealed the fact of detention that occurred on August 26 and only next day the peacekeepers learnt about it from Georgian side.

According to him, they carried out monitoring together with the members of the OSCE mission and confirmed the detention, however the hostages were treated decently.
