Kurta And Avnevi Public Schools Incorporated Into UNESCO Network Of Associated Schools

Tbilisi. August 27 (Prime-News) – As a result of the work carried out by the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO (President of the Commission – Minister of Foreign Affairs Gela Bezhuashvili), public schools of Kurta and Avnevi were incorporated into the UNESCO network of associated schools.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia that Despite the fact that over 500 schools all over the world are on a waiting list for the UNESCO associated school status, the issue of schools located in the conflict zone, due to its great importance, was considered ahead of schedule and decided positively by UNESCO.

The public schools of Kurta and Avnevi, which include both Georgian and Ossetian children, will be afforded an opportunity to establish close contacts with schools of the same status, take an active part in various international events, implement a great number of projects with the support of UNESCO and cooperate with the important international organization such as UNESCO.

Russia Banned Export Of Agricultural Products From Abkhazia

Tbilisi. August 27 (Prime-News) – The Russian Federation has banned the export of agricultural products from the territory of de facto Abkhazia.

Website of de facto president informs about that referring to Said Tarkil, Deputy Head of the Abkhazian customs service.

According to the information of Tarkil, they received an official notice on the ban of export of agricultural products from the Russian Federation a week ago.

According to him, Russia has banned export of all agricultural products including citruses from Abkhazia.

Russia has reportedly cited the spread of a pig disease, African Swine Fever (ASF), in Abkhazia as the reason for the decision.

Next Conscription Of Reservists To Start On August 29

Tbilisi. August 27 (Prime-News) – The seventh flow of reservists will be trained in four military bases of Georgia from August 29 till September 15.

According to the information of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, with the seventh conscription, reservists will be distributed to Senaki, Mukhrovani, Kojori and Telavi reserve battalions.

Reservists from Samtredia and Tskhaltubo regions will depart for Senaki. Reservists from Gardabani, Marneuli and Bolnisi regions will be trained at Telavi reserve base. Students of Technical University of Georgia, Tbilisi Medical University, Ilia Chavchavadze Stated University, Institute of Asia and Africa and Tbilisi University of Economic Relations will be trained at Mukhrovani Reserve Base.

Reservists residing in Gldani-Nadzaladevi, Isani Samgori, Didube-Chugureti and Didgori districts will leave for Kodori.

Next Cabinet Meeting To Be Held On August 29 At State Chancellery

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – The Cabinet of Ministers will discuss fourteen issues at the cabinet meeting scheduled on August 29.

Prime-News was told at the State Chancellery that Giorgi Arveladze, Minister of Economic Development of Georgia, would present several draft resolutions among them are: draft resolution on “Refusal To Transfer Portable Property Being In State Possession To Possession of Tbilisi”, draft resolution on “Granting 100% Shares of “Sachkhere Regional Hospital-Policlinic Union” Being In State Possession With Right of Governance” and draft resolution on “Transferring Additional Property To the Possession of Sighnaghi Municipality”.

Aleksandre Lomaia, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, will make a report about introduction additions into the resolution on “Definition of Partial and Full Amount of Budgetary Funding for 2007-2008 Academic Year”.

The Cabinet of Ministers will also hear information presented by Lado Chipashvili, Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs, about the project on “Acting Plan of Georgian National Anti-drug Strategy”.

Davit Tkeshelashvili, Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, will brief the Cabinet of Ministers about draft-resolution on “Document of Forestry Policy”.

President Congratulated Georgian Population Upon Assumption Of Virgin Mary From Sioni Cathedral

Tbilisi. August 28 (Prime-News) – Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, congratulated the Georgian population upon the Assumption of Virgin Mary celebrated on August 28 from Sioni Cathedral, where the Patriarchy of Georgia that Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II conducted a religious service.

“In order to unite Georgia, we ought to restore it, as the destruction separated us,” admitted the president and stated that by building the state churches, army, roads, skyscrapers, schools, hospitals we would be able to restore and unite our country.
