“We did not make any decision regarding shutting down national schools and I am surprised to observe Azerbaijanis’ indignation caused by these gossips,” admitted Aleksandre Lomaia.
Reports on the possible closure of schools, where education is conducted on the Azerbaijani language have recently been spread in media. The reports caused anxiety amongst the population in the Kvemo Kartli region where up to 500,000 Azerbaijanis reside.
According to the Minister, Georgian Government observes and protects its Constitution and legislation and tries to help the citizens to receive education in their native language, and simultaneously to study the official language. The task of the Georgian Government is to enable national minorities, including Azerbaijanis, to study their official language,” he said.
According to Lomaia, the Tavtavi program is being implemented for this purpose. “Programs are being developed not only for schools, which will enable all those interested to study the Georgian language,” the Minister said.
Machavariani Denies Information About Dismissal Of Zurab Noghaideli From Post
Mikheil Machavariani told journalists that the above-mentioned speculations were groundless as the President of Georgia instructed Zurab Noghaideli to form a new cabinet of ministers.
At the same time if the President of Georgia intended to replace the Prime Minister of Georgia he would have organized consultations with parliamentary factions.

Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, will organize a briefing concerning the staff reshuffle at 17:00 on Thursday.
According to the preliminary information, Gia Kavtaradze, Minister of Justice of Georgia, will leave his post. He will be replaced by Nika Gvaramia, Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia. Gia Kheviashvili, Minister of Refugees and Resettlement of Georgia, and Roman Gotsiridze are expected to quit their posts.
Prime Minister Named New Composition Of Cabinet Of Ministers
Zurab Noghaideli declared at a special breifing on Thursday that on the basis of the decision taken by the President of Georgia Lekso Aleksishvili, acting Minister of Finance of Georgia, will be presented on the post of the President of Georgian National Bank. The candidature of Lekso Aleksishvili will be approved in September, after acting President Roman Gotsiridze quits the post.
The candidature of Nika Gialuri, acting Minister of Energy, is presented on the post of the Mnister of Finance. Aleksandre Khetaguri, President of Georgian Oil and Gas Cooperation, will replace Nika Gilauri on the post of the Mnister of energy of Georgia.
Zurab Noghaideli admitted that Aleksandre Khetaguri occupied the post of Deputy Minister of Energy in previous years and is acquainted with energy system.
Gia Kavtaradze, acting Minister of Justice, failed to retain his post. According to Zurab Noghaideli, Gia Kavtaradze has taken decision to return back to business. The candidature of Eka Tkeshelashvili is presented on the post of the Minster of Justice of Georgia.
Zurab Noghaideli noted that further staff reshuffle was not expected. He will present revised cabinet of ministers and a new program to the parliament of Georgia for approval in two days.

Minister Of Internal Affairs Of Georgia To Depart For Baku

According to their information, within the framework of the two-day visit Merabishvili will hold meetings with his counterparts from CIS, including Ramil Usibov, the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan. The ministers of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan will discuss the prospects of future cooperation.
A meeting for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Interior Ministers will be held in Baku on September 05-06. The issue on unification forces in order to defeat terrorism, organized and transnational crime will be discussed at the meeting.
