According to their information, within the framework of the two-day visit Merabishvili will hold meetings with his counterparts from CIS, including Ramil Usibov, the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan. The ministers of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan will discuss the prospects of future cooperation.
A meeting for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Interior Ministers will be held in Baku on September 05-06. The issue on unification forces in order to defeat terrorism, organized and transnational crime will be discussed at the meeting.
Ossetian Side Released Georgian Hostages
De facto law enforcement bodies handed the hostages, including employee of Tao Bank Davit Galegashvili, over to Mamuka Kurashvili, Commander of Georgian Peacekeeping Battalion dislocated in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone.
The Georgian law enforcement bodies refrain from making any comments on the aforementioned fact.
According to the information of Press and Information Committee of de facto government, the employees of law enforcement body of South Ossetia detained three citizens of Georgia – Davit Galegashvili, resident of Tbilisi, Matsi Kvaratskhelia and Tsotne Broladze in Akhalgori region, on the territory controlled by South Ossetia. They were detained near the checkpoint of the Ossetian militia, when they were taking photos. The detainees failed top present identity cards and it turned out that they crossed the border without the permission of de facto government of South Ossetia.
Gela Bezhuashvili Discussed Issues Of Bilateral Cooperation With His Azeri Counterpart
Gela Bezhuashvili is hosting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Batumi, who is on his working visit to Georgia.
A meeting was held between the Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan in the building of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The sides discussed the positive dynamic of bilateral relations and prospects for the consolidation of regional cooperation, including the issues of interaction in the framework of GUAM and European Neighborhood Policy (ENP). The talking points included, inter alia,the issues of energy security. The Ministers highlighted the strategic character of the existing relations between the two countries.
During his visit to the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan got acquainted with the ongoing reconstruction processes in the region, visited Batumi-Sarpi coastline, Gonio-Apsaros Fortress, Nobel Museum and other sights of interest.
Ossetian Side Released Georgian Hostages Without Setting Any Conditions
Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, brother of former hostage Matsi Kvaratskhelia, told journalists about that.
According to his information, the former hostages turned out on the territory controlled by the Ossetian side quite by chance. They traveled all around Georgia and visited and even participated in the reconstruction of churches located on the territory of Georgia.
Mamuka Kvaratskhelia noted that the detainees were kept in the department of militia of Tskhinvali, but no violence was used against them.
