Russian Ambassador To UN Accuses Georgia Of Political Provocation

Tbilisi. August 22 (Prime-News) – Vitaly Churkin, Russian Ambassador to the UN, accuses the Georgian side of fabricating evidences of the August 06 missile incident and deliberately causing “political tsunami”.

Vitaly Churkin stated at the press conference held at the UN that so-called missile incident was a mere provocation, intending to escalate tension between the two countries.

According to Churkin, the Georgian side had hindered the investigation by covering up the hole where the weapon was found.

He claimed that the remains of the missile included a small piece bearing inscriptions in English.

“The use of foreign-manufactured components is banned,” Churkin said, adding that Russian pilots were even forbidden to wear Swiss-made watches.

According to the data of the Georgian side, the aircraft, which flew from the Russian territory, violated Georgian airspace and dropped a Precision Missile near the village of Tsitelubani. However, in spite of the number of evidences, the Russian side continues to deny the involvement of its military aircraft in this incident. Neither the group of experts from Russia confirmed the fact of bombing. The Georgian side accuses Russia of the August 06 missile incident. The group of experts from the USA, Sweden, Latvia, Great Britain, Poland and Lithuania share the position of the Georgian side. Their report was issued on August 21 and says that Russia has been involved in the August 6 missile incident.

Special Representative Of OSCE Left For Moscow

Tbilisi. August 22 (Prime-News) – Miomir Zuzul, the special representative of the OSCE, departed from Tbilisi to Moscow in order to investigate the incident connected to the violation of Georgia state border, incursion into airspace and bombing of the territory of Georgia on August 06.

Miomir Zuzul told journalists that he would listen to the version of the Russian side regarding the August 06 missile incident as well and would present the acquired material to the Chairman of the OSCE.

“There are two versions: Russian and international and the OSCE will lately make conclusions,” admitted Zuzul.

Miomir Zuzul, the special representative of the OSCE, arrived in Georgia two days ago in order to investigate the missile incident. He visited the village Tsitelubani, where the aircraft, which flew from the Russian territory, violated Georgian airspace and dropped a Precision Missile. Mamuka Kurashvili, Commander of the Georgian Peacekeeping Forces located in the conflict zone, handed Miomir Zuzul all the information being in possession of the Georgian side.

Miomir Zuzul, the special representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, is in Georgia to look into the circumstances of the August 06 missile incident.

Miomir Zuzul held meetings at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Ministry for Conflict Resolution. He also met Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, Gela Bezhuashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Vyacheslav Kovalenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Georgia.

Karasin Provided EU Ambassador With Information On August 06 Missile Incident

“The special emphases were put on “Russia’s assessment of the situation” surrounding the August 6 missile incident in Georgia,” reads the statement disseminated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to their information, the ambassador was the initiator of the meeting.

Antadze: All International Organizations Including UN TO Discuss August 06 Missile Incident

Tbilisi. August 22 (Prime-News) – The Georgian side has voiced a hope that all international organizations, including the United Nations, will discuss the August 06 missile incident.

Merab Antadze, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, told journalists about that before the beginning of the cabinet meeting.

“Russia applies rough Soviet methods of diplomacy regarding the discussion of issue related to violation of airspace of Georgia and throwing a Precision Missile near the village of Tsitelubani at the UN,” remarked Antadze and expressed a hope that all international organizations would discuss the aforementioned issue.

Prime Minister Asked Government To Be Mobilized For New Academic Year

 

Tbilisi. August 22 (Prime-News) – Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, instructed the members of the government of Georgia to elevate preparation works for a new academic year.

Zurab Noghaideli declared at the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday that he put special emphases on rehabilitation of schools and reconstruction of roads during his visit Guria, Samgrelo and Imereti.

According to him, private investments are also important as it encourages creation of new vacancies.
