Workshop On Environmental Management Issues Held At Ministry of Defense

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Ministry of Defense of Georgia hosts a three-day workshop on environmental management issues.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia that the workshop is conducted in the framework of Bilateral German-Georgian Project “Establishment of Environmental Management System in the Georgian Armed Forces”.

The participants of the workshop are discussing the scientific-technical aspects of the second stage of the project.

The first stage of the project was successfully accomplished in June and envisaged restoration of Dedoplistskaro Demilitarization Center and equipment of ammunition depots, security measures and development of NATO standard environmental guidelines.

The next stage of the project envisages establishment of GIS System. In the framework of the second stage, Environmental Management System (EMS) will be established in the Georgian Armed Forces and the environmental laboratory will be equipped with the relevant radiation detectors.

The Georgian side will receive 135 000 Euros allocated for implementation of the second stage of the project. The assigned sum will be spent on establishment of GIS System, hexogen utilization installations at Dedoplistskaro Demilitarization Center and equipment of Environmental Laboratory to be owned by Legal Entity “DELTA”.

The workshop is attended by the experts of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources who provide expert consultations to the Defense Ministry in establishment of GIS system and environmental monitoring activities.

Tkemaladze: Staff Reshuffle Might Not Touch Force Ministers

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Zurab Tkemaladze, the leader of the parliamentary faction “Industrialists”, deems that awaited staff reshuffle might not touch force ministers.

Zurab Tkemaladze told Prime-News that staff reshuffle might affect economic ministers. “Somewhere in September Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, will leave his post,” remarked Tkemaladze.

Zurab Noghaideli, Prime Minister of Georgia, will organize a briefing concerning the staff reshuffle at 17:00 on Thursday.

According to the preliminary information, Gia Kavtaradze, Minister of Justice of Georgia, will leave his post. He will be replaced by Nika Gvaramia, Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia. Gia Kheviashvili, Minister of Refugees and Resettlement of Georgia, and Roman Gotsiridze are expected to quit their posts.

Lado Chipashvili, Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs of Georgia, left his post in consequence of staff reshuffle. Lado Chipashvili will be appointed as the Ambassador of Georgia to Czech Republic. Kakha Sikharulidze, former Ambassador of Georgia to Czech Republic will return to Georgia and will occupy an important post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Davit Tkeshelashvili, acting Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, will become the Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs.

Davit Chantladze, acting Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, will occupy the post of the Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources.

New Office Of “Kokoity Fandarast” Opened In Akhalgori

 

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – The movement “Kokoity Fandarast” opened the seventh office in Akhalgori on Thursday.

Activists of the movement and Ossetians residing in the region gathered in the center of the city.

“Days of Kokoity are counted, its time for him to say farewell to Ossetians,” Vladimer Sanakoev, the speaker of the organization “South Ossetian People for Peace”.

Sanakoev also spoke about the abduction of the Georgian journalists in the village Monasteri, the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. According to him, the detention of journalists was connected to the fact that Kokoity did not want them to make a report about his separatist surrounding.

The aim of the aforementioned action is to release South Ossetia from separatist regime of Kokoity with help of peaceful means.

The movement unites activists from the whole territory of Georgia.

The offices of “Kokoity Fandarast” have been already opened in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Tamarasheni and Telavi.

Georgian Express 2007 Implementing Arrangement Signed

Tbilisi. August 30 (Prime-News) – Implementing Arrangement between the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Ministry of Defense of Georgia concerning the provision of host nation support to the British Force during Exercise Georgian Express 2007 was signed at the Georgian Defense Ministry on Thursday.

Prime-News was told at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia that COL Irakli Batkuashvili, the Chief of J-5 Strategic Planning and Military Policy Department of the Joint Staff, and LTC Nick Ridout, Defense Attaché of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, signed the document.

Exercise “Georgian Express 2007” is being held in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Georgia Concerning the Conduct of Military Exercises and Training and the Provision of Host Nation Support, signed in Tbilisi 2004.

“Georgian Express 2007” was officially opened in Vaziani military base on August 27 and will be closed on September 9.
